Woman dies after giving birth to quadruplets

A woman, Gaje Zubairu, 38, who was given quadruplets at the General Hospital of Malumfashi, Katsina State, last Wednesday by caesarean section, died on Sunday morning.

The hospital's chief medical director, Dr. AbdulHamed Abdullahi, confirmed the development of Northern City News.

Abdullahi, however, did not provide details about the circumstances surrounding the death.

He said: "Yes, the woman died around 11 this morning (Sunday), but I will call you to give you more details while I drive."

Another source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: "Gaje had already escalated the stress of the operation and we were anxious for the appointment ceremony of the babies.

"A good Samaritan had even bought the ram that will be sacrificed on Wednesday for the appointment ceremony.They alerted us this morning of our duty to their sudden restlessness and a few minutes later, she was dead."

The remains of Gaje were taken to his village, Gora Dansaka, for burial according to the Islamic rites of Sunday.

Gaje had been discharged from three children and a girl through a caesarean operation last Wednesday by a medical team at the General Hospital, Malumfashi, Katsina State.

One of the quadruplets died on the night of the delivery date, leaving three behind.
