Monkeypox recorded in Akwa Ibom.
Monkeypox virus has spread to the state of Akwa Ibom and has been confirmed by the state government. The Punch reports that Mr. Charles Udoh, who is the Information and Strategy Commissioner on Sunday, October 8.
He said one case of the disease has been discovered while two other suspects are under investigation. Meanwhile, the Rivers government confirmed that the state recorded three cases of monkeypox disease, an outbreak that began in Bayelsa recently.
The cases were reportedly reported in Port Harcourt, the state capital. Leadership reports that the state's health commissioner, Professor Princewill Chike, announced the incidents while speaking with reporters on Friday, October 6.
